Do You Love Books and Reading?
We Do!
Welcome To Your New Online Home “Books Are More Precious Than Gold” BookHobby.Com
Here you will find book reviews, news about books, a large set of community Forums and a bi-weekly podcast about the world of books. Stimulating online conversations with other booklovers, finding out what’s new and exciting, using your iPod or MP3 player to enjoy Internet radio shows about books, it’s all here on BookHobby.com.
If you look at the tabbed links at the top of the page you will see one for the Forums and that is one of the most important areas on this site. Try it first. It will take you to the Community Message Board where you can sign up to leave messages and to help us get this community off to a great start. Please introduce yourself there and if you have never used a message board before please don’t feel shy. Just join in on any conversation or feel free to leave a conversation starter of your own. Just use the same basic etiquette you would meeting people anywhere else and you’ll be fine!

Meet, Greet and Discuss In Our Forums Read This Month’s Feature Reviews
Every month we have feature-length reviews of one to three books that we think are worthy of special mention. You can use the tabbed link to Reviews at the top of the page. Or just click on the pictures of the book covers below to go directly to the Reviews page.
ABC
a novel by
David Plante
Ever wonder why the letter A starts the alphabet and Z ends it? Or why F comes before I? The protagonist of this new novel becomes obsessed with such questions as he tries to figure out why the Universe has caused him so much grief. Is there a reason why bad things can happen to everyday, good people and could the answer somehow be encoded in the alphabet itself? A story of the edge of madness will take you into a world where even a filing cabinet may hide a code. Read our review or listen to our podcast and discuss this new novel in our community Forums.
And Don’t Miss Our “Quickie” Reviews
Many more books are reviewed in our “Quickies” area.  Just click on the tabbled link at the top of the page labeled Quickies and every month you’ll find a new set of quick reviews of books we think you might want to pile onto your to-be-read table.
The BOOK HOBBY Podcast Show
You don’t need an iPod or an MP3 player to enjoy our bi-weekly Internet radio show all about the world of books. Just go to the tabbed links at the top of the page and choose Podcast. There you will be able to listen online to each of our BOOK HOBBY podcast shows. Of course, if you do have an iPod or an MP3 player it’s easy to subscribe to the show and receive automatic updates to download and take with you. iPodders can use the iTunes subscribe button or just go to the iTunes store to subscribe. Those using other podcast aggregators can use the non-iTunes subscribe button. Don’t worry if this sounds pretty techie to you -- we’ve made it very simple to do and, once again, no iPod or MP3 player is needed as you can play the shows online right here. We hope that you will enjoy our reviews, commentary and interviews!
Who Are These BOOK HOBBY People Anyway?
I have been a book collector and reader all of my life. I started off as a kid with the first run of Tom Swift Jr. and the Winston Science Fiction Library. One day, I think I was ten, I decided that books look better without their dust jackets and probably cheated myself out of paying for college. Oh, well. Hopefully none of you have had that happen!
About a year ago I decided to become a book dealer, a lifelong ambition made possible to me now through the Internet. But I want to be more than simply a book dealer. I want to communicate to you my love of books and how much they mean to me -- and to maybe help you communicate your own feeling about books to others. So this is a very interactive site what with the podcasting and the Forums. On The Forums please feel free to introduce yourself and to meet others and me. Share your own views and reviews. Talk about your love of books.
My hope is that we can have a real community here of book lovers, book collectors, anyone who understands out motto that “Books Are More Precious Than Gold!”

These pictures show my wife (Irene) and I at our first book show as exhibitors, the Long Island Book Fair. We had a tremendous time and I talk about it in Podcast Show #4.
Our books are available to you for browsing if you click on the Store link at the top of the page. From there you can visit them on Amazon, Alibris, Tom Folio and other venues.
While we certainly appreciate any orders note that this site is ABSOLUTELY FREE. You need not ever visit the Store! We hope you enjoy it here.  Always remember that “Books Are More Precious Than Gold!”
